PPE Supply

A KES 1,200 helmet cracks in 6 months. A KEBS lot (KES 2,800) lasts 3 years with docs. A boot that hurts gets removed — then it protects nothing. At Kwale we kitted 180 staff with 3 sizes per item, fit-tested in 45 minutes per 30 staff, did 6 toolbox talks in Swahili/Sheng and logged every signature. Six months: zero OSHA observations (was 12), near-misses -60%. Same people, same site, different kit and training.

Dynatec is not a Kariokor stall. Every lot has KEBS D-mark + EN/ANSI test report — EN 397 for helmets (20kV), EN 388 4X43C for gloves, EN ISO 20345 S3 SRC for boots, EN 149 for masks. We attach the docs to your delivery note for your OSHA file. And we fit-test — one size does not fit, and a wobbling helmet or blistered foot is a hazard, not protection.

Cheap PPE costs 2×. A KES 1,200 helmet + KES 800 goggles + KES 600 gloves seems cheap until you replace them 4× a year and fail DOSHS. Our starter kit (helmet + goggles + gloves + vest + boots) is KES 9,500 single, KES 8,200 at 50+ with KEBS docs and training — and it lasts 12+ months, not 2.

PPE that isn’t worn is not PPE. At Thika, wear was 30% because helmets were one-size 58cm (heads are 53–63cm) and boots were size 42 only (feet are 38–48). We brought 3 sizes per item, palm-measured gloves, and let workers choose. Wear 30%→95% in 2 weeks — not because we enforced, but because we fitted. A helmet that doesn’t wobble and a boot that doesn’t blister stays on in 32°C heat at 2pm.

OSHA 2007 and WIBA 2007 don’t ask for receipts — they ask for evidence. Regulation 45 (PPE) requires suitable, CE/KEBS-marked, maintained, and trained. DOSHS checks: batch numbers, test reports, training register, inspection dates. A photo of a helmet wall doesn’t pass. Our delivery note has batch docs, EN report numbers, replacement due dates (12 months), and training signatures — 180 rows at Kwale, each signed. Zero observations in 6 months because evidence beats explanation.

We don’t drop cartons and leave. We do 6 toolbox talks (15 min each, Swahili/Sheng), inspection posters at the gate, cleaning stations for goggles, and fit checks at week 1, 4, 12. WhatsApp group avg reply 4.2h: ‘Size 44 shortage’ at 7am → swap at 10am from Kwale consignment. 10% spares held on site. If a helmet cracks or a boot sole delaminates in warranty, 7-day swap — no ‘bring it to Ruiru’. That’s why Kwale reordered for 240 staff, not 180.

You don’t need cheaper PPE. You need PPE that workers keep on, that lasts 12 months, and that makes DOSHS shake your hand. That’s Dynatec — KEBS D-mark, EN-tested, fit-tested, trained, logged, and supported. Bulk KES 8,200/kit is not a price — it’s a cost-per-worn-day of KES 22 versus KES 44 for imports that die in 60 days.

KEBS D-mark + EN/ANSI test report with every delivery — EN 397, EN 388, EN ISO 20345, EN 149 — batch-traced

3 sizes fit-tested on site — helmet 53–63cm, boots 38–48, gloves palm-measured — 45min per 30 staff

7-day swap + 10% spares held in Kwale/Ruiru — no ‘we’ll order’, no ‘bring to shop’

Toolbox talk in Swahili/Sheng + register (180 rows) + posters + inspection checklist — your OSHA file ready

Starter kit KES 9,500 (single) / KES 8,200 (50+) — helmet + goggles + gloves + vest + boots, KEBS docs + training included

WhatsApp support avg 4.2h, visits week 1/4/12 — we don’t disappear after delivery

If your workers remove helmets in heat or boots hurt by 3pm, it’s not discipline — it’s fit. Let us fit-test 30 staff in 45 minutes. You’ll see why they keep them on, and why DOSHS stops writing.

How It Works — No Surprises

From audit to handover in 4 steps

01

Fit test on site — 3 sizes, 45min/30 staff

We bring sizing kits (helmets 53/58/63cm, boots 38–48, gloves 7–11, measured). Workers try, choose, photo guide for next order. No one-size gamble. Takes 45 minutes per 30 staff, done at your toolbox time.

02

Kit & train — 6 talks, posters, stations

Kit per person (named bags), 6 toolbox talks (PPE use, care, inspection, heat, dust, fall), A3 inspection posters at gate, goggle cleaning station, boot care. In Swahili/Sheng, logged with signatures. You get a register, not a poster.

03

Log & handover — 180-row register

PPE register (name, ID, sizes, batch numbers, EN report refs, issue date, replacement due 12mo), delivery note with KEBS D-mark + EN reports attached, WhatsApp reorder list. DOSHS file ready on day one.

04

Follow up — week 1/4/12 + WhatsApp

Site visits at week 1 (fit check), 4 (wear audit), 12 (replacement plan), plus WhatsApp group (avg 4.2h reply). 10% spares on site for swaps. Training refresh at 6 months. You don’t chase — we check.

Why You Called Us

If any of these sound familiar, we’ve seen it 200+ times — and fixed it.

These aren’t “occasional issues”. They’re the weekly cost you stopped counting. Each one has a KES value hidden in your bill, your stops log, or your audit file. We make it visible in the 1-day audit, then remove it.

!

OSHA 2007 observations — no KEBS docs, no batch trace, no training register — 12 findings at Kwale before us

!

PPE that workers remove — helmets wobble (one size 58cm), boots blister (size 42 only), goggles fog — wear 30%

!

No training records — ‘we trained’ with no signatures, no dates, no languages — DOSHS doesn’t accept

!

Cheap imports failing in 2 months — helmet cracks, boot sole delaminates, glove stitch pops — rebuy 4×/year

!

No spares, no swap — ‘bring to Ruiru’ when a size is wrong, 2-week wait

!

Mixed standards — CE sticker with no EN report, KEBS mark photocopied — audit fail

Deep Dive — The Work Behind the Promise

Not brochure copy. The actual work we do — so you know what “done” looks like.

01Head, Eye & Face — EN 397, ANSI Z87.1, That Actually Protects

Full-brim vs vented helmets: full-brim for sun (Thika mills, 32°C), vented for heat with 20kV insulation (EN 397). Suspension 6-point, not 4 — wobble is a hazard. Goggles: anti-fog, anti-scratch, indirect vent for dust (EN 166 1B), face shields for grinding (EN 166 3A), auto-darkening welding 9–13 shade (EN 379). We bring samples, you see the cert — not just the colour.

We fit 3 sizes (53/58/63cm) and check chin strap (2-finger rule). At Kwale, medium vs large was 40/60 split — one-size would have failed 60%. Auto-darkening helmets tested for switching time (<1ms) and shade accuracy — not just ‘it darkens’. Your welder’s eyes are not a place to save KES 2k.

02Body, Hands & Feet — Hi-Vis, Cut 5, S3 SRC, That Workers Keep On

Hi-vis: Class 3 (EN ISO 20471) for night, FR (EN ISO 11612) for welding/energy, coveralls 280gsm not 180gsm — cheap tears in 3 washes. Gloves: cut 5 (EN 388 4X43C) for glass/metal, chemical (EN 374) for acid, heat (EN 407) for boilers — palm measured (7–11), not S/M/L guess. Boots: S3 SRC (EN ISO 20345) — steel or composite toe 200J, anti-penetration, SRC slip (oily steel), shock absorb, 3 sizes 38–48.

We weigh boots: steel 850g vs composite 720g — heat matters at Kwale 34°C. Composite doesn’t conduct heat. SRC tested on steel with glycerol — not just ‘rubber sole’. Coverall breathability matters — we bring 2 fabrics, workers choose. When they choose, they wear. Wear 30→95% is not magic — it’s measurement.

03Breathing, Hearing & Fall — N95, NRR 31, Harness That Holds

Respirators: N95 (EN 149 FFP2) for dust, half/full mask with A2B2E2K2P3 for chemicals, PAPR for silica — fit test (bitter agent) mandatory, beard policy enforced. Hearing: earmuff NRR 31 (EN 352-1), foam plugs NRR 32, dual for 110dB hammer mill — we measure with sound meter, not guess. Fall: harness EN 361, lanyard EN 355 with shock absorber, SRL EN 360 — anchor EN 795, inspection every 6 months.

We log fit test (pass/fail), training (don/dof), and inspection (visual + functional). At Kwale, 3 of 180 failed dust mask fit due to beards — we supplied PAPR. That’s the difference between ‘we issued’ and ‘we protected’. You get a log, not a count.

What You Get at Handover — No “We’ll Send Later”

A file, not a handshake. Your auditor will thank you.

Fit testing on site — 3 sizes per item, 45min/30 staff, palm measure, photo guide

Kitting per person (named bags) + 6 toolbox talks (Swahili/Sheng) + posters + cleaning station

Delivery note with KEBS D-mark + EN test reports (batch-traced) attached

PPE register (180 rows) — name, sizes, batch, report refs, issue/replacement dates, signatures

10% spares held in Kwale/Ruiru + 7-day swap + WhatsApp reorder (4.2h avg)

Week 1/4/12 visits + 6-month refresh + inspection checklist

In Thika, that handover file passed NCA with zero observations. The previous contractor’s “handover” was a receipt and 5 audit findings. Which file do you want to hand your boss on day 23?

Where We Do It — From Ruiru to Kwale

Your industry, your dust, your shifts — we’ve done it.

Mining (Kwale pattern)

Helmets, boots, dust masks, harnesses — 180 staff, 0 observations, -60% near-miss.

Manufacturing (Thika)

Cut 5 gloves, goggles, hi-vis — wear 30→95%, 12 months life.

Construction

Full-brim, steel toe, fall harness — NCA audit pass, WIBA covered.

Energy & Warehousing

FR coveralls, earthing boots, chemical gloves — audit file ready.

Also: Nairobi, Thika, Athi River, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nanyuki — 24h audit in Nairobi metro, 72h nationally. Spur Mall, Ruiru — Ruiru warehouse, 3 mobile teams.

The Maths — What It Saves, What It Returns

This is not cost. It’s avoided cost — with a 2.7× pattern.

Cheap kit: helmet KES 1,200 (cracks 6mo) + boots KES 3,500 (2mo) + gloves KES 600 (1mo) = KES 11,100/year per worker with 4× rebuy + 2 hours procurement each time + DOSHS finding KES 50k fine risk. Dynatec kit KES 8,200 lasts 12mo + docs + training + swap = KES 8,200/year, 26% cheaper, zero fine, zero rebuy. For 100 workers, that’s KES 290k/year saved before counting near-miss reduction (-60% at Kwale = fewer LTI, lower WIBA).

WIBA claim for a foot injury averages KES 450k–1.2M + 14 days lost + DOSHS investigation. A KES 2,800 S3 boot vs KES 1,800 non-cert saves KES 1,000 but risks KES 800k. That’s not saving — it’s gambling. KEBS D-mark + EN report is your insurance policy, and we attach it to the delivery note so your lawyer can prove ‘suitable PPE’ in court.

We audit free in Nairobi metro for contracts >3 months because the numbers sell themselves. You’ll see the KES value of the 7 stops you stopped counting — on paper, before you pay.

What They Say — After We Left

Before Dynatec, 30% wore helmets — they were one size and hurt. After fit-testing 3 sizes, 95% wear them even at 2pm in heat. DOSHS went from 12 observations to zero. And the boots last a year, not 2 months.
